Salim warned against letting Murshidabad become another site of minority persecution like B'desh
In a fiery show of strength at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Ground on Sunday, the CPI(M) launched a sharp offensive against both the Trinamul Congress and the BJP, accusing them of corruption, communal politics, and anti-poor policies.
The rally was held under the banner of four mass organisations — workers, farmers, temples and mosques — "but on the plank of education, healthcare, employment, and dignity."
Taking aim at communal politics, Salim warned against letting Murshidabad become another site of minority persecution like what he claimed was happening in parts of Bangladesh.
"Our fight is not driven by religion. Look at Bangladesh to see what happens when religion is weaponised. We will not let that happen here," he said, emphasising the need to protect all religions and uphold secular governance.
