Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched a sharp attack on the Opposition on Saturday, accusing them of using women's atrocities cases as a political tool while failing to acknowledge their own record over the past two and a half decades.

Challenging the Opposition, the CM asserted that no perpetrator of heinous crimes or atrocities against women have been spared or given political shelter by his government. He accused the Opposition of avoiding fact-based discussions for fear of exposing their own shortcomings.

While responding to the debate on the Appropriation Bill for budget approval, Majhi underscored his government's achievements while taking jabs at the BJD's long tenure.

"For us, work is the only priority, not how long we are in power. What matters is making the best use of our time to serve the people of Odisha," he remarked, implicitly criticizing the BJD's 24-year rule.

Majhi highlighted the Subhadra Yojana as the state's most significant women's welfare initiative, noting that in its first year, the scheme has already provided Rs. 10,000 per year to over one crore women. Additionally, an allocation of Rs. 17,998 crore has been made for various women- and child-centric welfare schemes.
