EMPD deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi suspended

THE City of Ekurhuleni has suspended the EMPD deputy chief, Brig. Julius Mkhwanazi, following an internal audit that found evidence of possible misconduct.
The suspension, effective November 11, is described as an administrative step to protect the integrity of the disciplinary process. In a statement, the city officials stressed that it does not amount to a finding of guilt, and formal disciplinary proceedings will follow.
City Manager Kagiso Lerutla said the decision comes amid serious revelations emerging from the Madlanga Commission into alleged corruption and political interference in South Africa's criminal justice system.
