Boks’ dominance is undeniable
The Star
|December 01, 2025
THE Springboks completed their year-end tour unbeaten after near-imperious displays against Japan, France, Italy, Ireland and Wales.
-
It was a pity then that, with two minutes left, it ended in such an abhorrent manner.
Wales, down 73-0, were comprehensively beaten in Cardiff this past weekend. So the rush of blood that overcame Eben Etzebeth in that moment, where he appeared to gouge Alex Mann, is completely unjustified. Regardless of whether his actions were in retaliation, the veteran Bok should have done better in the instance. His indiscretion deserves a lengthy ban.
In spite of Etzebeth’s impropriety at the end of the tour, there can be no argument from Bok critics that the five-match series was anything except an unreserved success.
