Potters goalkeeper Simkin looking to sign off loan spell at Walsall with promotion success

- Peter Smith

TOMMY Simkin is gearing up for the biggest game of his life to cap a season he hopes is setting him up to one day make his Stoke City breakthrough.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper is preparing for the League Two play-off final with Walsall, where he has spent the season on loan bidding for promotion from League Two. They take on AFC Wimbledon on Monday (3.01pm) at Wembley Stadium.

"I'm really excited," said the England youth ace, who has been on Stoke's books since he was 13. "We had a little tour around Wembley on Monday just to get used to the surroundings and I can't wait. I just want the game to come now. I'm really looking forward to it.

"We have to treat it like a normal game and just live in the moment, that's what the gaffer is big on at the moment, just enjoying each day as it comes, not thinking too far ahead or in the past, just live in the moment and enjoy it.
