'We don't want to be a yo-yo team'

BEN Garrity will not be taking Doncaster Rovers for granted today as Port Vale attempt to win their first league match this term at the fifth attempt.

The 28-year-old midfielder could well find himself back in the starting XI given George Byers is still suspended and there are slight injury doubts against Funso Ojo and Jordan Shipley.

Whether he plays or not, the Liverpudlian does not think underestimating the opposition is a good idea Rovers having picked up seven points so far.

"I think that's the worst thing ever when people say 'you should beat them'." he said. "That's never ever a thing at any level. Premier League or wherever.

"You never just get handed a result, especially at this level. I think every team has their pros and cons and these [Doncaster] have got off to a flyer to be fair and they are a very tough team.

"We played them last season and they were so tight, those games. So it will be another tough one."

Garrity does not want to be carefully nurtured back in after injury. He just wants to play.

He said: "The injury that I've been out for a while, it's been nothing to do with muscles, it's been an ankle problem I've had since last October.
