'Unsafe' historic house demolished

ONE of Stoke-on-Trent’s oldest homes has been demolished on ‘safety grounds'.
TARGETED: The house on fire in 2022.
Stoke-on-Trent City Council acted after an independent assessment ruled that Ford Green House, in Smallthorne, was ‘unsafe’.
It allowed the owner to demolish the Ford Green Road property.
The property was not a listed building - but was a non-designated heritage asset.
It had fallen into disrepair, become a hotspot for antisocial behaviour since becoming vacant in 2007, and previously been branded ‘structurally unsound and dangerous’.
