Taylor’s top ton the highlight as Betley defetat Bignall End

JACK Taylor was on the ton trail in Betley’s NSSCL Division Three win against Bignall End seconds.

Taylor's 142, which contained 23 fours and four sixes, enabled hosts Betley to post 299-5 from their 40 overs.

He shared a second-wicket stand of 209 with Ryan Cheetham, who weighed in with 78. His knock included 13 boundaries and one six.

Willoughby Happe chipped in with an unbeaten 29 late on, while Ben Dixon scooped two wickets.

Adam Simcox (46), Adrian Myatt (37) and Bhagesh Mishra (22) made the biggest impressions on the resumption.

But Bignall End were bowled out for 166 as Happe snared 3-46 and Adam Williams added two scalps.

Leek seconds inched to a seven-run victory over their Oakamoor counterparts at Highfield.

Home side Leek managed to stick 198-7 on the board in the formative stages.

Brad Grindey top-scored with 57, an innings which saw him strike four fours and three sixes.

Harry Rutterford (36no) and Kieran Carr (35) lent valuable support to the Leek cause.

Arthur Wood was the pick of the Oakamoor attack, finishing with 3-16. There were also a couple of victims for Scott Heathcote.
