'Serious money given to repair potholes must deliver serious results'
The Sentinel
|April 28, 2025
WHEN I speak to local people, one issue comes up time and time again: the state of our roads.
-
Whether it’s getting to work, doing the school run or travelling to vital medical appointments, every journey starts with the same frustration, dodging potholes, worrying about vehicle damage, and wondering why nothing ever seems to change.
I know how you feel. I drive along those same streets. I've seen the same neglected pavements, and I’ve had the same conversations over and over again: "We report the issues, but nothing gets done." That's not just poor service, it’s a message. A message that says: “You've been forgotten.”
And I want to be absolutely clear: that is not OK.
For too long, Kidsgrove has been treated like the poor relative, left behind while other areas move forward.
Just take a walk down Chester Road in Talke, where a section of pavement has been fenced off for more than four years.
