'FIVE cars' were wiped out by the same pothole - in a matter of minutes.

Jason Richards was driving his Volkswagen Tiguan home on Cobridge Road, in Hanley, when he hit the pothole, suffered a flat tyre, and was left £250 out of pocket.

It was then that the 54-year-old discovered four other vehicles had also been wiped out by the same pothole.

Jason, of the Westlands, said: "I was travelling down from Cobridge traffic lights when I noticed at the last minute what looked like a big pothole.

"It was a big grid sticking up. But it was too late to take any action. Straight away I felt the rumbling of the tyre. A pressure hazard warning started flashing up on my dash.
