Mike fights to demolish taekwondo age barrier

BRITISH champion Mike Pejic is hoping to 'break down barriers' as he campaigns for a new age category to be introduced in taekwondo competitions.
The Stoke City legend took up the martial art in the early 1990s and he has been national champion at Poomsae - the non-fighting form - across various divisions from under-65s to over-71s in every year since 2013.
He was bitterly disappointed to end up with a World Championships silver medal in 2016 and was crowned over-65s European champion in 2019.
Now aged 75, he retained his 71+ British title last week but that's the upper limit and he is lobbying British Taekwondo to bring in a 76+ level.
