32-year-old ‘made biggest mistake of life’
A DRINK-DRIVING refugee has been spared jail after hitting speeds of 130mph in a high-speed police chase.
Iraqi national Awrahman Hawta was behind the wheel of a Ford Focus in Potteries Way when officers noticed his driving seemed off.
North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard the 32-year-old failed to pull over and was only brought to a stop after being snagged by a police stinger at around 5am on July 21.
Prosecutor Julia Fox said: “He was seen by one officer driving dangerously on Potteries Way, who attempted to stop him.
