575 objectors fight plans for new estate in Cheadle

HUNDREDS of objectors are fighting plans for 50 new homes in Cheadle.

CCP Developments (Stone) Limited announced plans this year for the development in Manifold Drive.

However, they have been criticised by people living on the Rakeway Estate opposite the proposed development, who claim it will cause increased traffic congestion and heightened risk of flooding.

Documents submitted by the developer state that additional traffic will be 'barely perceptible' and would represent an additional car journey every two to three minutes.

A petition has now been signed by 575 objectors and several public meetings have also been held.

Rachel Mosley, who started the petition, said: "We have concerns that the only route on and off the proposed dwellings is on to Rakeway Estate.
