Borough launches survey on local government shake-up

RESIDENTS are being invited to say what council they would prefer for their area.

Newcastle Borough Council is carrying out a consultation on local government reorganisation (LGR), giving people a chance to have their say on the issue.

The government plans to abolish the two-tier councils in Staffordshire and other parts of England and replace them with a single layer of unitary authorities. One of the questions in the borough council's online survey asks participants to choose their preferred geography for Newcastle's new council.
