Estate is out of plan after inspector questioned its viability
PROPOSALS for a major housing estate on Green Belt land have been removed from a planning blueprint.
Newcastle Borough Council wanted to earmark land at Red Street and High Carr Farm for up to 530 homes and a local centre in its local plan, which will guide development in the area up to 2040.
But the site has now been dropped after a planning inspector raised concerns over its viability. The deletion of the site, next to the A500 Talke roundabout, is one of several ‘main modifications’ to the draft local plan following its public examination this year.
