Gabriel thanks club for top support after his comeback

ON A MISSION: Jordan Gabriel wants to play a key role in helping Port Vale to survive in League One this season.

Gabriel has bounced back from personal issues and a medium-term injury as he fights to help Port Vale avoid relegation this season. The 27-year-old was injured against Wimbledon on October 11 and made his return on Tuesday night against Bolton Wanderers as he played 45 minutes in the EFL Trophy win.

Now he hopes to be in contention for the Mansfield Town clash, tomorrow, as Vale look to build on three successive victories in three different competitions.

"I'm unbelievably happy about being back," Gabriel told the club's pre-match press conference.

"It's been a long time, 94 days, not that I was counting. It's quicker than everyone thought and I was eager to be back so I can't thank the medical staff enough for getting me back as quickly and safely as possible."
