'Everything went blurry and I got all these white spots popping up'

A YOUNG woman on a night out believes she was spiked with a needle after her vision went blurry and she started to shake.

Karena Shenton was catching up with a friend at Yates in Newcastle last Friday. The 21-year-old noticed spots in her vision at about midnight, before struggling to walk, talk and stay awake. Security helped her get home safely to Newstead.

The following morning Karena noticed a small bruise on her leg where a man brushed past her while she was dancing in the nightclub. She has since been checked at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and reported the incident to police.

Now Karena is warning other revellers as police investigate a report of a double spiking at the Ironmarket venue on Saturday night.

The care worker said: “I don’t drink much alcohol, so I just had one drink when we got in at around 10pm..

“We were stood dancing when this guy brushed past me. It made me feel uncomfortable.

"After about 20 minutes, my vision started going funny. Everything became blurry and I got all these white spots popping up. I started panicking because I was starting to feel dizzy too. I went to sit on the steps outside while my friend went to get me some water.
