Entertaining finish, but Betley manage to secure the spoils

BETLEY inched their way to a one-wicket triumph over Bignall End seconds in NSSCL Division Three.

Visiting Betley were set 175 for victor on their visit to Boon Hill.
Stuart Cheetham made 42 early on for Betley, before Jonny Phipps compiled a half-century in the run chase.
Phipps hit eight fours and two sixes in his 57 which proved to be crucial in seeing Betley over the line, despite Tom Atkinson’s 3-38 and a couple of wickets apiece for Kieran Peake and Ben Dixon.
Dixon had earlier top-scored with 66 in Bignall End’s 174-9 from their 40 overs. Ben Mogg captured 3-23 for Betley.
Eccleshall seconds ran out two-wicket winners on their visit to their Bagnall Norton counterparts.
Bagnall Norton managed to make their way to 145-6 from their allocation in the first half of the contest.
Sam Timmis led the way with 34, while Cian Gibson chipped in with 26 to boost the home side’s cause.
Jack Armstrong took a couple of wickets for Eccleshall and then added 25 in their reply.
It was Deklan Binnington who was the steady middle-order hand with 51, which featured 11 fours.
Jordan Beasley finished matters with 23 not out, even though Gibson claimed 3-30.
