Authority blames high demand for service

- Thomas Cooper

DISABLED Kevin McKie has been left waiting for a 'much-needed' housing alteration for more than 12 months.

The 55-year-old has cerebral palsy, is completely wheelchair-bound, and relies on carers four times a day for simple tasks such as going to the toilet or taking a shower.

An NHS occupational therapist visited Kevin's Bradeley bungalow last year and made an application to Stoke-on-Trent City Council to have a bedroom wall knocked down after seeing his doorway was too narrow to allow easy access to his wet room. But Kevin is still waiting for an update on his application.
