City MP is calling for more research into health conditions affecting women

Dr Gardner said she had frequently relied on bags of frozen peas to relieve the pain but said some women at the debate had described pouring scalding water on their legs to distract themselves. The politician who was elected in July last year - even revealed she considered getting her bladder removed in a desperate attempt to end the pain. However, she turned to a private doctor who ultimately 'saved her life'.

Now she is calling for more research into health conditions affecting women that continue to be misunderstood. UTIs are bacterial infections which can affect the bladder, urethra or kidneys.
