Petition claims green fields development will be 'catastrophic'
COUNCILLORS will debate a petition opposing plans to build hundreds of homes on green fields.
A total of 1,334 people signed the petition against Stoke-on-Trent City Council's 'absolutely catastrophic' proposals for Packmoor.
Cabinet members have agreed to draw up a masterplan for the village, which could see 800 homes built on council-owned farmland, along with improvements to services and infrastructure. The support for the petition has been enough to trigger a debate at Thursday's full council meeting.
Lead petitioner Darren Bamford will have the chance to address the council for up to five minutes.
