700 back call to reopen road on 'isolated' housing estate

MORE than 700 people have signed a petition calling for a road leading to a city estate to be reopened.

The 721-name petition - launched by councillor Daniel Jellyman - calls for Stoke-on-Trent City Council to allow traffic to use Sherborne Close again.

The road, which leads on to the Newstead housing estate near Blurton, has been blocked off by railings for a number of years.

But roadworks near the Dougie Mac on Barlaston Road, which started on May 20, caused chaos for motorists - highlighting the limited access to the estate.
