VIVA and Philstar Media Group Partner for 'Bagets: The Musical'

The Philippine STAR and Viva Communications, Inc., two media giants with a history of mutual support, are joining forces to bring the iconic Filipino film "Bagets" to life as a major musical production.

The decision to collaborate reflects a shared vision: to partner with the best in the industry; those who deeply understand the nuances of the entertainment landscape and possess the creative vision to make this project a success.

"I'm excited because 'Bagets' will finally be in live musical theater," said Viva Communications, Inc. Chairman and CEO Vic del Rosario at the signing of the partnership in the Viva office last January 30. "I'm excited to be partnering with Miguel (Belmonte) of The Philippine STAR. We've been friends for a long time."

"Hopefully, this will be the start of many more projects together."

The hit coming-of-age movie came out in 1984, directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes, produced by del Rosario's Viva Films. It catapulted the careers of actors who eventually became some of the biggest stars in Philippine entertainment: Aga Muhlach, William Martinez, JC Bonnin, Raymond Lauchengco, Herbert Bautista, Eula Valdez, Yayo Aguila, Jobelle Salvador, and more.
