Sara to LGUs: Protect children from cyberbullying, online abuse

Local governments must impose strict policies to better protect children from becoming victims of cyberbullying and online sexual abuse, Vice President Sara Duterte said yesterday, in line with the celebration of National Children’s Month this November.

“Tam appealing to all local governments, from the barangay to higher officials, to impose strict policies for the protection of children,” Duterte said.

“Our children deserve a safe digital and physical world where they can learn, play and grow without fear. Sadly, many children face risks from online predators, cyberbullying and exploitation, often leaving lasting emotional scars,” she added.

She said that parents and citizens also have the responsibility to defend children and make certain that they grow up in safe communities.

“We should not allow their lives, dignity and future to be placed in danger,” she added.

The Vice President also believes that parents and their guardians should monitor their children’s internet use.
