Remolona sees more rate cuts in Q4

There is a possibility of two 25-basis-point rate cuts in the final quarter of the year, as inflation is expected to ease further in September, according to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona Jr.

On the sidelines of a forum at the Asian Development Bank yesterday, Remolona said the Monetary Board could further ease policy this year by cutting 25 basis points each on Oct. 17 and Dec. 19.

"In theory, we have a policy meeting in October and December.

So, 25 basis points and 25 basis points that's possible, in principle," the BSP chief said.
