Mismo! pays tribute to Hotdog's Dennis and Rene Garcia
The Philippine Star

I like the way the book Mismo! Everybody Needs an Inspiration opens with a question.
-

How do you make something that lasts? It entices the reader to find out the answer.
How indeed? Mismo! is about Dennis Garcia and his brother Rene.
The title, in fact, was Rene's favorite catch word. Now I do not know if they ever asked themselves or if they ever asked somebody that question.
Strangely though, while they never did, they nevertheless found the answer.
How they did it is all in Mismo!
Dennis and Rene Garcia were the moving forces behind the band Hotdog.
Dennis wrote hip and catchy lyrics. Rene composed melodies, both sweet and rocking.
Pers Lab, Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko, Beh!
Buti Nga, Manila, Bongga Ka Day, Dying to Tell You, Annie Batungbakal, Langit Na Naman and many others.
They didn’t know it then, but as it later turned out, what they were doing was writing songs that would defy time and while doing so, they were also changing Filipino music forever.
