Marcos warns Siquijor power firms over blackouts

President Marcos has issued a stern warning against power players in Siquijor, saying he would stay on top of the issue to ensure full electricity restoration on the island before the year ends.

In his fourth State of the Nation Address on Monday, Marcos said he would not let what recently happened in Siquijor pass without action.

"Due to the widespread brownout, the province was even forced to declare a state of calamity. This caused great hardship for the residents there — tourism, businesses, hospitals and various services were all affected," he said.

Citing a government probe, Marcos said they found expired permits and broken generators, which, according to him, were clearly neglected.
