Sen. JV Ejercito yesterday filed his top 10 priority measures, headlined by a proposed P74.4-billion supplemental budget for the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) to reinforce the health care system and sustain the rollout of the Universal Health Care Law.

A principal sponsor of the UHC Act, Ejercito has warned against the state health insurer's funding shortfall.

The proposed measure would fund premiums for indigents, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. It would also enhance benefit packages and provide coverage for beneficiaries in conflict-affected areas.

All bills Ejercito filed would be marked as the first 10 Senate bills in the 20th Congress.

The first round of filing of bills and resolutions started Monday, while the second round would commence on July 7.

In the 20th Congress, the order of filing had been determined through a raffle instead of seniority or length of service.

Ejercito drew the number one spot on the first round, while Sen. Joel Villanueva will file first on the second round.
