Jonvic admits class suspensions announced later than usual

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla appealed for understanding as he took responsibility for the delayed announcement of suspension of classes and work in government yesterday.

Remulla, who is usually ahead by a day in his announcements of class and work suspensions during inclement weather, made the announcement shortly before 6 a.m. when some students were on their way or already in school for their morning classes.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief said the predictive model he received on Sunday evening showed that only parts of the southern Philippines were going to be affected by heavy rains. However, the projection shifted early yesterday, which included parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila.
