What makes the local music scene vibrant and flourishing are singers and songwriters, who commit to performing and churning out compositions, respectively, along with other creatives such as musicians, lyricists, producers and sound engineers.

Emerging artist Isha Ponti on why her songs are 'seasonal'

Part of that field also is the group of singer-songwriters who are passionate to create narratives set in music and record them as their own releases.

Isha Ponti, Best New Female Artist of last year's Aliw Awards, belongs to that circle.

Recently, The STAR and other print and online platforms were invited by Isha to a media call that also displayed her vocal versatility.

Before the group interview, she treated everyone to her songs such as Lambing with her soothing and effortless rendition; Tara, about a hopeless romantic; and Dyahe, an upbeat tune that will sit well with Gen Z and the young at heart.

She exuded confidence as she gave quick bits and pieces about a ditty and performed it.

"The very first (song) that I released is called Proud To Say," said Isha to this paper's question about her story as a singer-songwriter. "It's a Father's Day song for all the loving fathers out there. After Proud To Say, (I had) a Christmas song."
