DepEd Warns Public vs Fake Cash Aid, Class Suspensions

The Department of Education (DepEd) warned the public yesterday about the proliferation of announcements on social media about cash assistance, class suspension, scholarships and an alleged no-backpack policy.

"The public is warned that the posts on social media are fake news. The DepEd reiterates its warning to the public to take extra precaution on the information being read online," the DepEd said.

"For official announcements and information on basic education, only visit the official DepEd Philippines social media accounts," the DepEd added.

Last month, the DepEd said a viral social media post announcing the addition of Grade 13 to Senior High School in the school year is fake news.

"DepEd once again reminds the public to be cautious and analytical against misinformation," it said.

Teacher qualifications

Education Secretary Sonny Angara has approved the amended qualification for teachers, master teachers and school principals in compliance with the resolution issued by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) on May 28.
