BCP eyes pilot to put DPWH budget on blockchain

The Blockchain Council of the Philippines (BCP) is looking to pilot an ambitious initiative to place the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) national budget on the blockchain.

BCP president Donald Patrick Lim said the proposed pilot project would demonstrate how blockchain technology can promote transparency and accountability in government spending, even as discussions on its institutionalization continue.

Lim, at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay breakfast forum, said the BCP can do the pilot within the year.

“It's privately funded. The private sector is the one funding it. The council is the one working with all the stakeholders to execute it,” Lim said.

“This is at no cost to the government,” he stressed.
