BBM tells AFP: Rise above politics, be loyal to Republic
The Philippine Star

The military must “rise above politics” and profess loyalty not to personalities or groups but to the Republic, President Marcos said yesterday, as rumors persist of alleged destabilization plots fueled by the raging multibillion-peso flood control scandal.
Speaking during the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Officer Candidate Course joint graduation ceremony, Marcos said soldiers should serve as role models at a time when Filipinos need their loyalty and courage in service.
“More than this, the AFP that you are part of now must always rise above politics. Your loyalty must not be (to) any individual or any faction, but only to the Republic,” the President said.
“The time and effort that you have spent in this course has taught you that by becoming full-fledged officers, your integrity is carried in your uniform and rank,” he added.
Marcos made the remark a day after thousands joined anti-corruption rallies on EDSA and in Rizal Park to condemn corruption and demand accountability for those who stole public funds.
