ASF vaccine trial to proceed - DA

The Philippine Star

July 21, 2024

The trial for African swine fever vaccine will proceed despite the reported ASF outbreaks in source-country Vietnam, according to an official of the Department of Agriculture.

- BELLA CARIASO

DA Assistant Secretary and spokesman Arnel de Mesa said the procurement of P350 million worth of ASF vaccines will proceed despite the spread of the disease in Vietnam.

“The P350 million underwent the correct process. Of course (ASF outbreaks in Vietnam will not affect our trial),” De Mesa said.

De Mesa was reacting to reports that Vietnam culled 42,400 infected pigs this year – up by nearly five times the number in the same period last year. He said the DA continues to monitor the situation in Vietnam.
