Officials say installation could go up by 30% if wind energy re-powering policy is implemented
TAMIL Nadu has secured third rank in installation of wind power plants in 2023-24 after Gujarat and Karnataka. On Global Wind Energy Day observed on June 15, Tangedco chairman and managing director Rajesh Lakhoni received an award on behalf of the power utility from the union government in recognition of this achievement.
Tamil Nadu installed wind mills with a combined capacity of 586 MW in 2023-24 whereas Gujarat installed mills with a total capacity of 1,600 MW and Karnataka installed mills with 700 MW capacity during the same period.
