STIR-HIT SAMSUNG ASKS TN TO ENSURE 'EASE OF BUSINESS'

SAMSUNG India has sought the intervention of the state government to ensure "ease of doing business" in Tamil Nadu and "protect the safety of workers" after a few protesting workers on Thursday morning entered the shop floor of the plant.

The protesters asked the contract workers "unlawfully" engaged in the production line to leave the spot, sources said.

On Thursday evening, the CITU-backed Samsung India Workers Union wound up its sit-in strike at the plant that had been going on since February 5 and retreated from the spot. CITU sources said that henceforth, the workers will hold protests outside the plant.
