Chivukula completed his BTech (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from IIT-Bombay in 1968, received an MBA from Harvard University in 1980, and was awarded a Doctor of Letters (DLit) degree from Tumkur University in 2012.
"My education at IIT-Madras, in addition to being extremely memorable and enjoyable, enabled me to accomplish much in life and placed me in a position where I can give back to the institute," said Chivukula at the event.
