'ATM withdrawal charges are institutionalised extraction'

CHIEF Minister M K Stalin has strongly criticised the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) decision to allow banks to charge up to ₹23 for ATM withdrawals beyond the permitted monthly limit. Condemning the move, he stated, "This is not digitisation. It is institutionalised extraction."

In a post on X, the CM pointed out that the union government had initially encouraged people to open bank accounts, then came demonetisation and the push for Digital India.
"What followed," he asked.
