The New Indian Express
|January 07, 2025
Known for revolutionising Carnatic music by emphasising laya control and simplifying gamakas, Gudalur Narayanaswamy Balasubramaniam's (GNB) contributions to the art form have left an indelible mark.
-
On Sunday, Savera Hotel hosted an event to celebrate the life and legacy of the legendary Carnatic musician. The evening featured a screening of GN Sir & I, a film by Rupa Gopal, along with the release of GNB: The Stuff of Legends, a booklet by Uma Anandan.
The event began with a prayer by Malladi Sindhu Rageswari. Nina Reddy, joint managing director of Savera Hotel expressed her gratitude to Rupa Gopal, calling her a guru in the fields of art and culture. "Rupa and I have had a relationship for 23 years, and her contributions to productions at Savera and Duchess Club have been remarkable. Each production has been special. Today I welcome the simple and intelligent Rupa," Nina said.
