PNB profit slumps 49% to ₹1,675 crore on higher taxes; bad loans decline

The country's third-largest public sector lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) on Wednesday reported a net profit of ₹1,675 crore for the first quarter of current financial year (Q1FY26), a 49% dip from the year-ago period, weighed down by increased tax outgoes, which rose to ₹5,083 crore.
