Ahead of Vinayaka Chavithi and Durga Puja, guidelines were set for idol immersion in Visakhapatnam during a coordination meeting chaired by Collector and District Magistrate MN Harendhira Prasad with municipal, police, and other officials.

The Collector reviewed the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) revised guidelines, stressing the protection of water bodies and promoting clay idols over Plaster of Paris (PoP), warning of legal action against violators. GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said the civic body would encourage natural clay idols.
