The scorching sun has its impact on the animal world as well. Due to the prevailing heat, forest patches have dried, forcing wild elephants to venture out of the jungle in search of food and water.
As per the data available with the department, the wild elephants have forayed into the human habitations for more than 3,300 times annually in the last three years in Coimbatore region. The data also show that the number is on the rise every year.
