Collector inspects poultry distribution scheme

COLLECTOR Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar on Monday inspected beneficiaries of the poultry distribution scheme implemented under the Niraindha Manam programme to provide economic support to women living in poverty.

As part of the scheme, 40 native chicken chicks were distributed at a 50% subsidy to destitute, widowed, and abandoned women in the villages of Alagiyanatham, Pathirikuppam, and Pagandai under the Cuddalore and Annagramam Panchayat Unions.

The collector said, "For the year 2024-25, under this scheme, 100 beneficiaries from each of the 14 panchayat unions in Cuddalore district—totalling 1,400 women—have been selected to receive 40 native chicken chicks each at 50% subsidy. Each beneficiary received ₹1,600 as subsidy, and a total of ₹22.40 lakh has been disbursed by the government."
