Deve Gowda says Naidu sought NDA chairman post, BJP refutes claim

IN a surprising revelation during his response to the Motion of Thanks to the President's address in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, former Prime Minister and senior Janata Dal (S) leader HD Deve Gowda claimed that TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had expressed a desire to become the Chairman or Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

While praising the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gowda asserted that Naidu had sought to become the Chairman of the alliance, with 16 TDP MPs supporting the NDA. However, Gowda said this request was not accepted by PM Modi.

Gowda praised Modi as a skilled administrator, highlighting his decision not to appoint a Vice-Chairman to the NDA, unlike the UPA.
