Kayalpattinam Villagers Demand Solution to Dog Menace

A group of people from Kayalpattinam urged the district administration to take steps to control dog menace in their residential areas, citing repeated incidents of stray dogs biting many people, including children and cattle.

The residents, led by Mass Empowerment and Guidance Association (MEGA) president SA Muhaideen, petitioned in this regard with Collector K Elambahavath at the weekly grievance redressal meeting at the collectorate on Monday.

Residents alleged that Kayalpattinam municipality failed to take action to control stray dogs, which posed a severe threat and were causing road accidents and hygiene issues.

Similarly, the civic body did not identify owners of stray cattle to restrain them from wandering on the streets, or to take steps to shift them to gosalai.

Many road mishaps have happened due to cattle menace, they pointed out.
