ADAPTATION, OR THE ABILITY TO ADJUST TO CLIMATE CHANGE, IS ESSENTIAL FOR SURVIVAL The UN Adaptation Gap report finds that adaptation finance needs are 10-18 times greater than current international public finance flows, and are increasing every year to protect people, economies and the planet from the intensifying impacts of climate change. These threats are escalating and are expected to intensify in the coming decades, even if the world meets the most exposed regions. The EU, the US, the UK, Canada, Japan, and even Donald Trump's America, have all pledged to cut emissions by 2030. But the world is not on track to meet the Paris climate-making confidence in the multilateral process to address climate change. Washington's retreat has been a setback, but the EU has increased its ambition and has increased elsewhere.
