Govt circular directs level playing field for transgender candidates

THE Kerala government has issued a directive ensuring that transgender individuals are provided equal opportunities in guest teacher appointments, just as they are in Public Service Commission (PSC) recruitment.
Authorities have been instructed not to deny appointments based on gender identity when considering candidates on merit.
The action follows a recommendation from K Baijunath, judicial member of the Kerala State Human Rights Commission. In response, the director of general education (higher secondary section) informed the commission that a circular had been issued to all higher secondary school principals and regional deputy directors, reinforcing the directive. A copy of the circular was also submitted to the commission.
