How a bid to save fellow soldier's life cost him dear
A 22-year-old army officer and Ayodhya resident, Lieutenant Shashank Tiwari, lost his life in Sikkim while saving a fellow officer during a routine operational patrol on Thursday.
The incident occurred when Lt Tiwari was leading a route-clearing team from the 1st Battalion Sikkim Scouts. Their essential task was to ensure safe passage from Bichhu to Chu Junction (Sikkim) for the following troops.
Suddenly, AV Stephan Subba, a soldier under Shashank's command, lost his footing and fell into a river and got trapped in a powerful current.
