Waqf Amendment Act Won't Be Implemented in Bengal: Didi to Minorities

CHIEF Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday asserted that she would allow neither the implementation of the amended Waqf Act in West Bengal nor the divide and rule of Muslims in the state.
At an event organised by the Jain community, Banerjee addressed the Muslims, saying, "I know you are hurt by the Waqf Amendment Act but nothing of that sort will happen in Bengal that divides and rules us. We have 33 percent Muslims here. They have been living here for centuries. What should I do? Throw them out? It is my duty to protect them."
