17th edition of IDSFFK opens with 331 films

THE 17th edition of the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) began in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday, with 331 films from 52 countries set to be screened over six days.
Organised by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the screenings will take place at Kairali, Sree and Nila theatres until August 27.
The opening ceremony was kept minimal as a mark of respect to Peermade MLA Vazhoor Soman who passed away on Thursday. A minute of silence was observed in memory of Soman and other recently deceased film personalities, including director-cinematographer Shaji N Karun, actors Kalabhavan Navas and Shanavas, filmmaker Nisar and documentary director R S Pradeep.
